Spent a few months trying to figure out what kind of sound system to add to my TV for the bedroom. My AI search kept coming back to some Edifier speaker options and a Sony surround sound system. I opted for these Edifier speakers as I did not want a soundbar sitting in front of my TV and I thought it best to not have a subwoofer since my bedroom has a shared wall with a neighbor.
I really like the clean classic look that these Edifier speakers offer. The sound is clean and crisp, and the bass is ideal for a bedroom setup. You still get some wall shaking bass depending on the type of music that you are playing.
However, if you really want that deep low bass for hip-hop, etc., you will want to add the subwoofer. These speakers do not handle that type of bass very well when playing at a high volume, unless you turn the bass itself down to a low level.
Overall, I really like what these speakers offer so far. I was also able to get a good deal on these using the price tracking feature on the web. Scooped these up at the lowest price point for just over the past year.
I do however have a couple of disappointments. First, the remote control is flimsy with two volume up and volume down buttons each. Without digging into as to why, I don't understand the logic in that. Would have been better if the remote control offered bass and treble controls which it does not have. Also, the remote needs to be pointed very directly at the main speaker or it will not respond.
Lastly, the order communication was Zero and my added delivery instructions were not followed. The package was left outside my front patio entry area instead of being placed inside by the front door. Just sitting out there in the original Edifier speaker package for anyone to see and/or take. Which luckily did not happen. So 4 Stars is all I can give here.
Surprising great sounding speakers for the money. Crispy high and miss. Decent bass. good enough for me but if it’s not enough in the future I have the option of adding a sub. Plenty of connection options. I have it on my pc running off optical. set it to 24/96 and it sounds great. Couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase.

I researched powered speakers for weeks, and finally settled on Edifiers based on all the positive reviews and comparisons with competitors. I was going for the R1280DBS's, but when the R1850DB's went on sale, I decided to go with them given the small price difference. It was a terrific decision! These speakers sound amazing - clear highs and mids, nice, crisp sound, and a nice amount of bass. Sound is well balanced. Music and voice both sound terrific.
Even though they sit a bit tight on my shelf, the sound is still outstanding. I never knew that the sound from my computer could be so good! Shipping was quick and speakers were securely packed. Highly recommended!
I had a bad experience with shipping, it was sent with a incomplete address. I was notified that my package was undeliverable because an incomplete address, I had to go to the Post Office and picki it up myself.

I ordered these because the first set of Edifier 1850 speakers that I had stopped working after 3 years. I tried to get help from your customer service but that was useless. The first set went into green blinking mode and would not reset! Hopefully this pair lasts longer. I do like the sound , so I bought another pair.
I had planned to add a subwoofer to these speakers, but after unboxing them and trying them out, they don't need a subwoofer. I truly love these speakers!
